Transport procurement

As a buyer, your company has unique opportunities to put forward demands that can decrease the negative environmental impact of transport and increase traffic safety.

Support for transport procurement

NTM has previously developed a questionnaire for transport supplier evaluation that members have used as a whole or in part. (See D)

NTM’s working group for transport procurement has in addition since 2006 offered a gross list of transport procurement ideas on demands that are free for all transport buyers to use and adapt to their own purchasing activities.

The material from NTM can be used by combining content from operational management with in-depth analysis of relevant modes of transport.

Based on the gross lists of ideas, you can formulate your own purchasing support for your company such as:

  • Tender inquiry documents with demands and wishes
  • Terms of agreement
  • Supplier evaluation as a basis for discussions and negotiation between buyer and supplier
  • Support in the performance follow-up process

The material is primarily is goods transport oriented, but much of the content can also be used for passenger transport.

The user evaluates

NTM does not evaluate or prioritize the content in the gross ideas lists – it is for the users to decide how they use the material.

Based on real experience

In the working group for transport procurement, there are representatives from several large transport procurement organisations. They are all working professionally with environmental and traffic safety issues in their transport procurement processes in different ways.

Influence and share experience

The gross lists of ideas are living documents. The working group welcomes constructive proposals for improvements, as well as more members in the working group.
